David O’Doherty performing his song “Life” in Pete’s hotel room in Melbourne.
As I’m listening to the Todd Glass episode of You Made it Weird, I thought that I really wanted to meet Todd, and then I remembered that a friend and I received a private show from him, at a bar, while sitting at a table with Matt Mira and Jonah Ray.
The phrase “Enjoy Your Burrito” (which is said at the end of every Nerdist episode) means a lot to me. I look at it as; forget the past (don’t dwell on the small things), Enjoy the present, and work towards the future.
Chris Hardwick, Jonah Ray, and Matt Mira saved my life. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. They got me through some very tough times in my life. I am proud to have the Nerdist podcast logo tattooed on my arm, as a reminder that even though life is hard, it also gets better.
Recently, I’ve been saying that I live a “Nerdist appreciation life”, which I play off as just a funny line, but it really couldn’t be any more accurate.
p.s. Here is the tattoo, for anyone who hasn’t seen it before.

MAH FRAVRIT PERDKERST!!!!
Remember that time Chris sang the theme song to Doug Loves Movies? Live! Twice!
I do.
(Well, I just started to get back into DLM and I just got to this episode, but still)
Can I just say how jealous I am that Jonah Ray, Matt Mira, Chris Hardwick, Pete Holmes, Kumail Nanjiani & Emily V. Gordon are all Fwends with each other! I don’t even have 1 person, and here they are, flaunting their perfect fucking lives.
I need Fwends.
I’m pretty sure this is what people hear when I talk to them about Doctor Who/Buffy/Firefly/MST3K/Star Trek/Nerdist/Podcasts/pretty much anything.
You know that moment when you meet your hero, and you are so happy because this is the man who changed your entire life?
I have that moment on film.
I got to hang out with Kevin FUCKING Smith tonight! He stuck around after Babble-on and signed autographs, took pictures, and was the nicest guy ever!
We talked for almost an hour after the show (there were about 7 of us who wouldn’t leave) and Kevin kept talking until his assistant told him that they had to hit the road (They were heading off to Jersey).
People always say “Don’t meet your heroes”, well fuck that. I met my hero, and he couldn’t have been any cooler.
(I also told him to force Scott Mosier and Matt Mira to make more FEaB)
